This October, Munich’s Kammerspiele theater will celebrate 100 years at the Schauspielhaus on Maximilianstrasse. From a historical perspective, however, what or whom is there to celebrate? The conference will examine the history of the Kammerspiele in the first half of the 20th century and discuss it in the context of an ambivalent and violent German-speaking (theater) history.

Experts in theater and music studies, Jewish history and anti-Semitism research will join theater practitioners to discuss their perspectives on this (theater) history. These perspectives extend beyond the history of the Kammerspiele in the narrower sense, reaching into the cultural and intellectual landscape of the 20th century as well as into the present.

Further information can be found on the Munich Kammerspiele website.
